Text Box:

In line with our mission statement, we believe that bereavement education assists people in better understanding grief and loss. In our grief avoidance society of today, we tend not to talk openly about grief. As a result, there are numerous myths and misconceptions about grief that impose inappropriate expectations on people in mourning. Education is one of the best ways of dispelling these myths. As we become more knowledgeable that grief is a normal response to loss, we will have a better awareness and comprehension of how to companion people through their grief journeys.

If you truly want to grow as a person and learn, you should realize that the universe has enrolled you in the graduate program of life, called loss.

-Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

There are things that we don’t want to happen but have to accept, things we don’t want to know but have to learn, and people we can’t live without but have to let go.

Who should attend: anyone who has suffered a significant loss or through their careers, work with the bereaved.

The following are a sample of the workshops available:

Healthy vs. Unhealthy Grief

Dispelling Common Misconceptions About Grief

Dealing With The Emotional Side Of Grief

Coping With Grief During Special Holidays

These workshops are available in a number of formats, including half-day, evening sessions and retreats.

People are also educated about grief and how it works. Attending a group supplies a process structure, where one evening each week, for ten weeks, people have a place to go where their grieving is encouraged and accepted as a normal part of their grief journey.
